|These two images show plumes of smoke trailing from fires approximately 7 miles (above) and 12 miles (below) to the northeast of Pariang town.
The plumes extend downwind for more than a mile from the fires. The point sources of these plumes can be viewed as 'hot spots' on the simultaneously collected
thermal image of this area
Fires in neighboring areas in Southern Kordofan and Upper Nile States on this same date are visible in other views from this satellite image.
